Description
Black 2002 is a black stoneware clay made from Sibelco, known for its high quality and versatility in ceramics. This clay is particularly appreciated for its intense black color when fired at higher temperatures.
Properties:
• Color: When fired at 1000°C, the clay takes on a light grey hue that darkens with increasing temperature. At 1200°C it reaches an intensely black colour.
• Chamotte content: Contains 20% fine chamotte with a grain size of 0–0,2 mm, which gives the clay a fine texture and makes it ideal for turning and modeling.
• Burning temperature: Suitable for firing within the temperature range of 1000–1240°C.
• Water absorption: At 1240°C, water absorption is approximately 0,5%, indicating a high density and low porosity.
Areas of use:
Nigra 2002 is versatile and suitable for a variety of ceramic techniques, including turning, modelling and sculpture. Its fine chamotte content makes it particularly suitable for detailed work where a smooth surface is desired.
